Andrea Branzi, a pivotal figure in Italy’s modern design history, is commemorated with the exhibition “Civilizations Without Jewels Have Never Existed” at the 10 Corso Como Gallery.
Exactly one year after the death of visionary architect, designer, and theorist Andrea Branzi, the 10 Corso Como Gallery presents the “Civilizations Without Jewels Have Never Existed” exhibition. Curated by Alessio de’ Navasques, the exhibition celebrates Branzi’s radical approach to design and his belief in the symbolic power of jewelry and ornaments, running until February 16, 2025.

A three-time Compasso d’Oro award winner, Branzi was known for his interdisciplinary approach, redefining applied arts by blending natural elements with modern design. The exhibition focuses on his iconic jewelry collections “Silver & Gold” and “Silver & Wood,” created in Belgium during the 1990s, as well as hybrid works that combine natural materials with industrial design.

The gallery installation spans works from the mid-1980s to 2023, exploring Branzi’s philosophy of decoration as a bridge between humanity and the cosmos. Alessio de’ Navasques highlights the mystical qualities of Branzi’s gold and silver garlands, crowns, and necklaces, which he described as “ornaments that bring people closer to the divine.”
