“Cups of Joy” installation, designed by Nichetto Studio for Barovier & Toso, celebrates the brand’s heritage and creativity.
Barovier & Toso has introduced “Cups of Joy,” a dazzling new installation designed by Nichetto Studio, currently on display at the brand’s boutique in Venice. Created for the holiday season, this playful and cheerful exhibition reinterprets the iconic Fenice piece, inspired by Ercole Barovier’s 1930s creation Piccione Primavera.
Located in the heart of Venice, the boutique transforms into a storytelling stage with Barovier&Toso’s famous Wedding Cup presented as a revolving carousel. Highlighting the brand’s rich craftsmanship history with elegant glass pieces surrounding it, designer Luca Nichetto describes the installation as follows:
“At the center is a revolving burgundy cup, adorned with silver snowflake-like details, inspired by Barovier&Toso’s iconic blue and red wedding cups. Encircling this central piece is a carousel featuring the brand’s signature designs that tell the story of Piccione, a joyful bird from Venice. Its journey takes it across fields and oceans, encountering the legendary Samurai, a royal patron who commissioned the ‘Taif’ chandelier, and facing perilous challenges. The story culminates in Paris, where Piccione triumphantly performs on a grand Barovier&Toso chandelier at the Opera.”
The installation also symbolizes the re-edition of Fenice, an elegant piece handcrafted from Venetian crystal with platinum leaf details. Limited to 98 numbered editions, the Fenice sculptures represent male and female forms. A brushed nickel base, a modern addition to the original 1930s design, emphasizes the sculptural essence of these works.
Initially named Piccione Primavera by Ercole Barovier, the sculpture represents an imaginary bird with an elegant and eclectic character. Nearly a century later, Barovier&Toso revives this iconic design, seamlessly blending timeless sophistication with contemporary elegance.
