Editor’s Picks from Paris Fashion Week

With Paris Fashion Week, the final leg of fashion month is closed. We take a look at the highlights of Paris Fashion Week.

The fashion month, with the winds blowing in New York and Milan, ended with spectacular fashion shows in Paris. While French designers Arnaud Vaillant and Sebastien Meyer’s spray dress on Bella Hadid marked the Paris Fashion Week, the collections of giants such as Dior, Chanel and Louis Vuitton were as glamorous as ever.

Chanel

Creative director Virginie Viard’s Chanel Spring/Summer 2023 Collection is based on the costumes Coco Chanel designed for the 1961 film Last Year at Marienbad. Coco Chanel designed two-piece suits and evening dresses for Delphine Seyrig, the star of the movie. For the new collection, the walls of the catwalk were covered with scenes from the movie. Kristen Stewart was in the lead role of the promotional movie shown before the models took the runway.

Miu Miu

For Miu Miu’s Spring 2023 Collection presented at Paris Fashion Week, Miuccia Prada says that the language of fashion is sometimes an expression of the reaction to reality. Based on the idea of conveying the emotion and reaction to reality, this collection is a reflection of sporty elegance at Paris Fashion Week with its mostly light-colored pieces.

Louis Vuitton

Louis Vuitton Spring / Summer 2023 Collection: a collection presented under church bells and glittering candelabras. The brand’s creative director Nicolas Ghesquière presented this new collection at the Passage Richelieu, the same Passage once used by Louis Vuitton. Bringing together the wardrobes of different eras, the collection creates an intergenerational fashion language with reconstructed patterns and designs.

Stella McCartney

Stella McCartney was one of the most sustainable collections of Paris Fashion Week, with Gigi and Bella Hadid walking together. In the fashion show held at the Pompidou Center, the models appeared on colorful roads with unisex and minimal McCartney designs. This new collection, 87 percent of which was made from ethical materials, was the most sustainable collection the brand has ever produced.

Thom Browne
