While the automotive industry was making plans for this year in 2023, up to 100 new fully electric cars were expected to come to Turkey. However, we were faced with the fact that this number would decrease due to the “Communiqué on the Import of Some Electric Vehicles” that came into force on December 29. These models mainly include those produced in the Far East such as China and Japan, or American production where high taxes are imposed. Therefore, European or domestically produced electric models are expected to make their mark in 2024. We have compiled the newest electric cars of 2024 for you.
Porsche Taycan
Sports car manufacturer Porsche is ready for 2024 by updating its first mass-produced electric car, Taycan. Having sold more than 150 thousand units all over the world since 2019, Taycan bring increased range and new equipment to its users among its 2024 innovations.
Porsche Taycan, whose range with a fully charged battery can vary between 678 and 821 km, also includes the “Push to pass” feature, which was transferred to road cars with the experience gained from Formula E. The system, which is activated by pressing a button in case of sudden acceleration needs, can provide an extra power of between 70 and 140 kW for 10 seconds, depending on the version. In this way, the most powerful version can produce 952 horsepower – albeit momentarily. Porsche Taycan models with this incredible power accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds to 2.4 seconds. Of course, in such high-performance uses, the range may decrease rapidly, as in every electric car.
Peugeot E-3008
Peugeot E-3008 is one of the most anticipated models of the year. Peugeot E-3008, which will also be produced in versions that include internal combustion engines and will simultaneously be offered for sale in Turkey in the second half of 2024, looks very attractive with its sharp lines and brand-new interior. Peugeot’s new Panoramic i-Cockpit is used for the first time in the E-3008, with its 21-inch curved, floating HD display combining a raised instrument display and a central touchscreen. Launched as the “Advanced Electric Fastback SUV”, the E-3008 is expected to offer a warranty covering all electrical and mechanical elements up to 8 years/160,000 km.
BMW i5 & i5 Touring
BMW, one of the pioneers of the premium electric car segment, continues to increase battery-powered options in 2024. While the station body version of the 5 Series, BMW’s representative in the E segment, called Touring, will be introduced in 2024, there will also be electric versions. BMW i5 M60 xDrive Touring will be available in the 3rd quarter of 2024, and BMW i5 xDrive 40 Touring will be available in Turkey towards the end of the year.
While the BMW i5 eDrive40 Touring has an 81.2 kWh battery, the rear electric motor and rear-wheel drive combination provides approximately 335 horsepower and 430 Nm of torque. Offering a range of 560 km, the station accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds. Those who are not satisfied with these figures and are looking for four-wheel drive can choose the BMW i5 M60 xDrive Touring. Producing 593 horsepower and 820 Nm of torque with its dual electric motor, the performance station has impressive figures such as 506 km range and 0-100 km/h acceleration in 3.9 seconds.
Citroen e-C3
Those who want to own an electric car but consider a reasonable price can wait for the Citroen e-C3, which will be available after the second half of 2024. Citroen e-C3, which is offered for sale in Europe at a price of 23,300 Euros, is expected to be the most affordable electric car that can be purchased in Turkey. Driving range of up to 320 km, 44 kWh battery pack and the ability to charge from 20 percent to 80 percent in approximately 26 minutes at fast charging stations are among the remarkable technical details of the e-C3. In addition to the Citroen e-C3, the 1.2 PureTech 100 HP 6-speed manual and 1.2 PureTech 100 HP eDCT6 MHEV versions of the Citroen C3 are planned to be offered for sale simultaneously. Citroen C3 predicts that half of its sales will come from the electric version.
Kia EV9
Kia EV9, which was put into mass production with very few changes after the concept made by Turkish designer Berk Erner, is the brand’s new model in the E-SUV segment. Kia EV9, which is offered for sale in our country as of 2024 with an initial sales price of approximately 5 million TL, can offer a range of 505 to 668 km in its 4-wheel drive, 384 horsepower GT-Line equipment. The 204 horsepower EV9, which is expected to be more affordable than this model, will be in Turkey in April 2024.
Peugeot E-208
Peugeot E-208, which is the most preferred electric car in all segments in France and in the B segment in Europe in 2022, will meet Turkish roads starting from the first quarter of 2024. It is possible to reach the new E-208, which is expected to offer 156 horsepower and a range of up to 400 km, from 20 percent to 80 percent battery charge in less than 25 minutes at 100 kW general charging points.
Ford Puma Gen-E
Puma, Ford’s best-selling car in the European market, has been facelifted for 2024. Puma, which has 155 and 170 horsepower in its 1.0-liter EcoBoost Hybrid engine, will also get a fully electric version called “Puma Gen-E” towards the end of 2024. The electric Ford Puma will be produced together with the new Transit and Tourneo Courier model in the factory purchased by Ford Otosan in Romania. The same engine and battery pack will be offered in both models. In this way, those who want to buy an electric Ford car will not have to think too much when choosing Puma or Tourneo Courier!
Porsche Macan
After the Taycan, the second mass-produced electric Porsche model is the Macan. The second-generation Porsche Macan, introduced as of 2024, includes an electric option in addition to internal combustion engines. Macan, which has started pre-ordering in Turkey, will start to be delivered as of June. Macan, which is the first Porsche model to use the new Premium Electric Platform (PPE) with 800-volt architecture and developed jointly with Audi, offers a range of 613 km on average and up to 784 km in the city. The most powerful electric Macan model has 639 horsepower and shows its performance with a very impressive torque value of 1120 Nm. In this way, 0-100 km/h acceleration can be completed in 3.3 seconds and a maximum speed of 260 km/h can be reached. Charging capability has also been improved at fast charging stations, from 10 percent to 80 percent in 21 minutes.
Opel Frontera
Opel Frontera, which was once one of the first models that came to mind when it came to off-road vehicles in Turkey, is returning as a fully electric SUV. Expectations have increased that the Opel Frontera, whose world launch is planned to be held in Turkey in the second quarter of 2024, will be put on sale simultaneously. In addition to Frontera, which is expected to replace the Opel Crossland, the new Grandland will be another electric Opel model that will hit the roads in 2024.
Renault Symbiosis
Renault, one of the pioneers of the democratization movement of electric cars, announced that it will launch a model called Symbioz in 2024 as a rival to models such as Peugeot e-3008 and Nissan Qashqai, following Zoe and Megane E-TECH. The new C-SUV, which the French brand will position between Captur and Austral, will also be an alternative to MPVs. Symbiosis, whose origins are based on the ancient Greek word “Symbiosis”, means “Living Together” and seems to achieve this goal by presenting many segments together.
