As summer months approaches, Netflix has announced its June calendar with new stories that series and movie lovers will enjoy. Let’s look at what’s on Netlfix in June.
“Kübra-season 2”, Yağmur Taylan & Durul Taylan
The series “Kübra”, which was launched last January with its first season and managed to attract attention with its interesting fiction, is back on June 6 with its 2nd season. Starring successful actors such as Çağatay Ulusoy, Nazan Kesal, Onur Ünsal, Cihan Talay and Ahmet Mümtaz Taylan, Gökhan tries to turn Kübra into something different after learning the truth about her and decides to continue his struggle. It is only a matter of time before events escalate and the police catch a loophole. “Kübra”, which is a matter of curiosity whether Gökhan will be able to get out of the business with this belief, will be on Netflix in June.
“Under Paris”, Xavier Gens
Directed by Xavier Gens, the acclaimed director of films such as “Farang”, “Gangs of London” and “Judgment Day”, the French-made movie attracts you even with its action-packed content and suspense-filled scenes. In the movie starring Berenice Bejo, a French actress of Argentine origin, nominated for an Oscar for the movie “The Artist”, Paris is under a great threat.
For the first time, the “World Triathlon Championships” will be held in the Seine River in the capital city of Paris, right near the Eiffel Tower, but there is a big problem. A young environmental activist named Mika tells Sophia, a successful scientist, that there is a large shark in the depths of the Seine. Although they don’t believe it at first, Sophia, who sees the truth after research, tries to stop the big championship in the city and prevent the river from turning into a bloodbath. With the help of the police chief Adil, a great underwater battle awaits them. This gripping and sometimes frightening film will be released on June 5th.
“Trigger Warning”, Mouly Surya
An exciting new production, “Vigilant”, stars the famous actress Jessica Alba. Jessica plays the role of a successful commando in the special forces, fighting the bad guys. Parker (Jessica Alba) returns home after the sudden loss of her father and takes over the bar he left behind. While trying to find out the truth behind his father’s sudden death, Parker also has to come face to face with the villains in the hometown where she was born and raised. She stands up to the gang that is tearing the town apart. With his commando training, Parker shows everyone around her that she is not to be trifled with and determined to right the wrongs of her hometown. Directed by Mouly Surya, written by John Brancato, Josh Olson and Hallet Gross, and produced by Erica Lee, Basil Iwanyk and Esther Hornstein, the movie, which also stars Jessica Alba, Kaiwa Lyman and Hari Dhillon. This action and drama film will be released on June 21.
“A Family Affair”, Richard LaGravenese
“A Family Affair” is directed by none other than Richard LaGravenese, who we know from “Fantastic Beasts” and “Note: I Love You”. Moreover, the movie features famous actors such as Zac Efron, Nicole Kidman and Joey King in the lead roles. Zac Efron plays Chris Cole, a movie star who falls in love with his assistant’s mother (Nicole Kidman). Told from the perspective of his assistant Zara (Koey King), she finds herself caught between her mother and her boss and finds herself in sometimes funny and sometimes bizarre situations. As her life takes an unexpected turn, Zara tries to cope with the two. Starring Liza Koshy, Kathy Bates and Shirley MacLaine, this romantic comedy is available on Netflix on June 28.
“Hitler and the Nazis – Evil on Trial”, Joe Berlinger
The documentary, which offers a new perspective on the dark history of the time, was created by Joe Berlinger, producer of Paradise Lost, The Ted Bundy Tapes and Metallica: Some Kind of Monster. Joe Berlinger stated that this documentary started when he realized that two-thirds of millennials and Gen Z had almost no idea what Auschwitz was and that the atrocities that took place during World War II were almost forgotten. This documentary series is produced in partnership with Smuggler Entertaintment and Third Eye Motion Picture Company. In the six-part series, we hear it all in the voice of William Shirer, one of the last Western journalists who was in Germany during World War II and stayed there for a long time and almost left Germany. And this is done thanks to artificial intelligence technology. This documentary, in which we witness Adolf Hitler’s rise to power and the first years of the war, airs on June 5th.
“Hierarchy”, Bae Hyeon-jin and Chu Hye-mi
Another emotional and romantic South Korean mini-series is coming to the screens. Jooshin High School is a very prestigious high school. A group of arrogant, privileged and elite students run the school as they want. But a new student arriving at the school starts to change everything. Cracks begin to appear in the rigid and impenetrable order. Those who slip through the cracks also affect the group. Many secrets are revealed, and a challenging period begins in which everyone is tested both with themselves and with their environment. With intrigue, drama and romance, Hierarchy arouses curiosity in the audience with a rich plot and unexpected endings. “Black Barbie”, Lagueria Davis
We all know Barbie dolls. Blonde, blue-eyed, white-skinned, slender and perfect. But do they really represent the best version of ourselves? Or are we all the same? The documentary film “Black Barbie” features the perspectives of three black women who worked at Mattel, the Barbie doll brand, in the 1980s and tells the story of how the first black Barbie doll came to be made. The documentary also features academics who have conducted academic studies on Barbie dolls and offer insights into the importance of these dolls in children’s imagination and identity construction. This documentary, which takes us on a journey about how the first black Barbie doll came to be, will be available on Netflix on Wednesday, June 19.
“Sweet Tooth Season 3”, Jim Mickle, Robert Downey Jr.
One of Netflix’s favorite series, “Sweet Tooth” is coming to an end with its third season. In the fantasy series about survivors in a post-apocalyptic world, we have witnessed many adventures full of science fiction and action in the previous two seasons. In the third season, Gus (Christian Convery), a human-deer hybrid, goes to Alaska with his friends to find his mother and faces unexpected dangers. Racing against time, Gus and his team are tested in their friendship and come to a turning point that will determine the fate of humanity and hybrids. The series is produced by Warner Bros. Television and executive produced by Jim Mickle, Susan Downey, Robert Downey Jr., Amanda Burrell and Linda Moran. The final season of the series will be available on Netflix in June.
