The traditional New Year Concert of Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra, one of Turkey’s leading symphonic ensembles founded in 1999 under the direction of Gürer Aykal, will take place on Thursday, January 12 at 20.30 at Zorlu PSM Turkcell Stage.
BIPO will be conducted by conductor Carolyn Kuan, who has performed with well-established organizations and orchestras such as the Suisse Romande Orchestra, San Francisco, Seattle and Toronto Orchestras, Royal Danish Ballet, English National Opera, New York City Ballet.
Norwegian trumpeter, vocalist and songwriter Tine Thing Helseth will be the soloist of the concert, which will include works by John Williams, Alexander Arutunian, Leonard Bernstein and Arturo Márquez, as well as a selection of works from the late romantic period.
In addition to the New Year Concert, recordings of concerts by the Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra, Borusan Quartet and Borusan Music House will be available on Borusan Sanat’s online video platform borusansanat.tv. The date announced for the first concert broadcast, featuring works by Schreker, Rachmaninov and Prokofiev, conducted by Patrick Hahn, is January 22 at 11:30. The soloist of the concert is pianist Nikolay Lugansky. The broadcast will be available on borusansanat.tv for one week between January 22-29
