Omega has added a new pilot’s watch to the Speedmaster family. With its colorful dial design inspired by the cockpit, the Speedmaster Pilot pays tribute to the brand’s aviation history.
In the beginning of 2024, Omega announced the Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon Apollo 18. Later in the year, different Speedmaster models with white dials and steel or gold cases were introduced, and a new Speedmaster was dropped in the last days of 2024.
Designed in a 40,85 mm diameter stainless steel case, the watch takes its inspiration from the first Speedmaster born in 1957. With its robust construction and easy-to-read dial, the Speedmaster was the preferred choice of pilots in the US Air Force in those years. The stainless steel case of the new watch is designed with a matte finish to prevent the light reflecting off the metal from catching the pilots’ eyes during flight. The black tachymeter scale is also presented in a matte finish.
At first glance, the sub dials at 3 and 9 o’clock are the most striking features of the new Speedmaster. The small seconds sub-dial at 9 o’clock is designed with a blue semicircle and yellow hands, while the sub-dial at 3 o’clock displays the “burn rate” in aircraft cockpits. is inspired by the display. A miniature airplane tip appears at the end of the second hand.
At the heart of the Omega Speedmaster Pilot is the automatic movement caliber 9900. It has a 60-hour power reserve.
