A design inspired by Honda’s iconic Motocompo, complete with a striking yellow dial… Created in collaboration with Honda, the new Seiko 5 Sports Motocompo Limited Edition commands attention down to the smallest detail.

Collaborations are nothing new in the watch world. Dials created with artists, designs shaped by the vision of architects, watches inspired by the fierce competition of athletes, and much more… Yet some collaborations have a particular way of capturing the imagination of watch enthusiasts. Unveiled by Seiko in collaboration with Honda this summer, the Seiko 5 Sports Motocompo Limited Edition looks set to be one of them, not least thanks to its vivid yellow dial.

The watch takes its inspiration from Honda’s Motocompo mini scooter, introduced in the early 1980s. Designed to be compact enough to fit inside the boot of a car, the folding scooter was offered in white, red and yellow, leaving an unmistakable mark on automotive design. For this special edition, Seiko turns to the yellow version for inspiration.

At the centre of the yellow dial, the HONDA logo appears against a horizontal black stripe. Towards 6 o’clock, the AUTOMATIC inscription is arranged as another nod to the original Motocompo logo. Black Arabic numerals complete the dial, while a day-date window is positioned at 3 o’clock.

The stainless-steel case measures 36.4mm in diameter. Even the winding crown draws directly from the Motocompo: the “TURN” inscription is inspired by the scooter’s fuel valve design. The “CARRYING POINT” and “INSERT POINT” markings on the NATO strap offer another playful reference, recalling the points used when securing the Motocompo inside a car with a strap.

The caseback continues the theme with an illustration of the Motocompo, accompanied by the HONDA logo and a limited-edition inscription.
