IWC’s new Ingenieur Automatic 35 brings the shimmering surface of a crystal-blue swimming pool to the dial with its new “Pool” colour.
A luminous blue dial that evokes summer at first glance… IWC introduces a new version of the Ingenieur Automatic 35 in a shade of blue it calls “Pool”. The press release says the new colour recalls the summer season, and it truly does. Looking at the dial feels a little like gazing at one of David Hockney’s refreshing pool paintings; it is easy to imagine anyone seeing it experiencing a similar breath of summer.

Let us begin our closer look at the new Ingenieur Automatic 35 with this blue dial. Christian Knoop, the brand’s Creative Director, describes the new “Pool” colour as an energetic and radiant aquatic hue that evokes summer, adding that the dial catches the light in a captivating way. Composed of fine lines and squares, the signature “Grid” pattern takes on a new sense of visual depth in this fresh colourway. Rhodium-plated hands and hour markers filled with Super-LumiNova® create a striking contrast even in low-light conditions.

The 35 mm stainless-steel case and bezel feature polished surfaces, while the integrated steel bracelet is finished with polished centre links. As a result, plays of light animate the watch as a whole, from day into night.
The crown is engraved with the inscription “Probus Scafusia”, a Latin phrase associated with “sound and reliable craftsmanship”.

Moving from the luminous dial and polished steel surfaces to the caseback, the IWC-manufactured calibre 47110 is revealed beneath the sapphire crystal. Offering a 42-hour power reserve, the automatic movement continues the watch’s luminous character with Geneva stripes and a gold-plated rotor.
