Grand Seiko introduced the SLGC001 Tentagraph, the first fully mechanical high-vibration chronograph with many improved features such as efficiency and precision.
Another first at Watches and Wonders 2023, Grand Seiko introduced the brand’s first fully mechanical high-vibration chronograph, the SLGC001 Tentagraph. The new fully mechanical chronograph complies with Grand Seiko’s core principles of precision, beauty, legibility and ease of use.
Grand Seiko’s Evolution 9 collection is progressing slowly but surely. The collection has expanded a bit this year with new watches, but the star of the day is the new Grand Seiko SLGC001 Tentagraph.
Indeed, the Grand Seiko Tentagraf SLCG001 is not the brand’s first chronograph. The SBGC249 and SBGC251 chronographs were previously seen in the Evolution 9 collection, but both watches were powered by Spring Drive calibers. Spring Drive, as it is known, is an innovative movement type that combines quartz and mechanical components. Tentagraph, on the other hand, is Grand Seiko’s first fully mechanical chronograph with a high-vibration powerhouse with a daily precision of -3 to +5 seconds.
The name Tentagraph also describes the features of the caliber 9SC5 that powers the watch: “10 vibrations per second” (Ten), “three-day power reserve” (t), “auto” (o) and “chronograph (graph).
Caliber 9SC5 has a power reserve of 72 hours (3 days) even when the chronograph function is active, making it the longest power reserve chronograph movement in the watchmaking industry today, measuring one-tenth of a second.
Dominated by light and shadow, blue and black, the watch is definitely big and impressive due to the 43.2mm diameter, 15.3 mm thickness and 52.6 mm length from horn to horn of the zaratsu polished titanium case with an astonishing level of matte and glossy surface contrast.
Chronograph watch fans are already talking hot about the SLGC001 Tentagraph, but the watch will only go on sale in June 2023.
