On one side, there’s the Roman-origin address for jewelry and sparkle, Bvlgari, and on the other, one of the most unconventional watch creators of recent years, MB&F. At first glance, these two names may seem unlikely to come together, yet in 2021, they collaborated to create the MB&F x Bvlgari Flying T Allegra model, introducing MB&F’s first women’s watch. Now, under the leadership of Bvlgari’s creative director Fabrizio Buonamassa Stigliani and MB&F’s founder Maximilian Büsser, these two names are coming together once again, this time to bring a new Serpenti to life.

Turning a Serpenti into what MB&F calls a “horological machine” took nearly two years. From the start, Fabrizio Buonamassa wanted to create a design where the eyes of the snake stood out, and he describes the design process, which involved hundreds of sketches, as a highly enjoyable one. Both the Italian creative director and Büsser’s shared passion for automobiles greatly influenced the design process. The Bvlgari x MB&F Serpenti, designed much more complexly than a standard round watch case, presents a different appearance when viewed from the front, back, and sides, just like a car.

Time is displayed on the front of the watch with a design reminiscent of a snake’s eyes, with two sapphire crystal windows beneath which the hour and minute are shown on discs. When viewed from the top, the intricate sapphire-crystal case reveals the iconic design of the Serpenti, resembling the head of a snake. The case, which exposes the mechanism, is water-resistant up to 30 meters.

The Bvlgari x MB&F Serpenti is powered by MB&F’s in-house hand-wound movement. Designed with 310 parts, the movement has a 45-hour power reserve. The balance spring, designed with a thickness of 14 mm, is positioned at the top of the watch to represent the snake’s brain.
