Banksy, the British street artist who has been actively exhibiting his art since the 1990s, whose real name and identity cannot be confirmed, is in the spotlight again, this time not for his works but for his relationship with his ex-girlfriend…
An anonymous woman claiming to be the guerrilla artist’s ex-lover has lent six of Banksy’s early works to The Art of Banksy, which is a traveling exhibition at Mediacity in Salford, England, until January 8.
The woman, who did not disclose her name, said that she and Banksy were together between 1994 and 1998, and that he created these works during those years. The works in question include flyers, a birthday card and a billboard for a store in Bristol. Together with these 6 works, there are 145 works in the exhibition, all of which are known to belong to Banksy.
The exhibition brings together prints and works on canvas produced by the artist between 2002 and 2017, in addition to works allegedly from the 90s.
The exhibition also includes Girl With Balloon (2002) and Brace Yourself (2010).
