New Audemars Piguet “Bleu Nuit, Nuage 50”
Audemars Piguet has introduced three new models inspired by the color of the first Royal Oak: “Bleu Nuit, Nuage 50”.

The sky has always sparked curiosity throughout human history, opening the door to new discoveries. For centuries, the movements of the Moon and stars were observed to measure time. The Vallée de Joux, located at the heart of fine watchmaking, became one of the most renowned observation centers for tracking, especially from the 18th century onward—thanks to its clear skies. Some of the most important complications in haute horlogerie were born here. Over the years, the color of the sky above this green valley even inspired Gérald Genta in designing the most iconic sport watch of all time.

To achieve the color of the night sky over the Vallée de Joux, which inspired the deep blue of the original Royal Oak, added black pigment no. 50 to a protective varnish, thus creating the “Bleu Nuit, Nuage 50” shade.

This color, which holds a significant place in the brand’s history, is making a return once again. Audemars Piguet CEO Ilaria Resta describes this revival as a tribute to both the valley and the brand’s craftsmanship.

Blue Deepens in Ceramic Cases

All three newly announced models are presented with ceramic touches. It took several years of development to adapt the “Bleu Nuit, Nuage 50” shade to ceramic and achieve a consistent tone throughout the watch. In addition to the depth of the dark blue, a play of light is created through a combination of satin-brushed and polished surfaces.

Among the models, the Royal Oak Double Balance Wheel Openworked is offered in a 41 mm ceramic case. The skeletonized dial highlights the intricate mechanism, while the hour and minute hands crafted in 18-carat pink gold complement the pink gold details of the movement. The watch is powered by the hand-wound calibre 3132.

Bringing a sportier aesthetic, the Royal Oak Offshore Selfwinding Chronograph model comes in a 42 mm ceramic case. The dial, adorned with the signature “Méga Tapisserie” pattern, features three chronograph sub dials. The hour and minute hands are crafted from white gold, adding a touch of sophistication to the bold design. In addition to the sub dials, a date window is positioned at 3 o’clock. At the heart of the watch beats the calibre 4404, offering an impressive 70-hour power reserve.

The final piece in the series is the Royal Oak Offshore Selfwinding Chronograph, housed in a 43 mm stainless steel case. The case is paired with a ceramic bezel in the signature “Bleu Nuit, Nuage 50” shade. This two-tone design highlights the striking contrast between stainless steel and deep blue ceramic. The dial features three subdials positioned at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock. Powering the watch is the calibre 4401, delivering a robust 70-hour power reserve.
