Rise from the ashes in the early nineties, A. Lange & Söhne is one of the top handful brands, perhaps the first, with their superior quality designs and determination to display the time correctly.
A. Lange & Söhne came to life with the heroic struggle of Ferdinand Adolph Lange‘s great-grandson Walter Lange and has become one of the most consistent watch manufacturers. Indeed, A. Lange & Söhne more like a stubborn and talented person than a company, it stands up to everything and knows how to deal with all kinds of difficulties.
A. Lange & Söhne designers and watchmakers have an incredibly obsessive on their business (each watch is assembled twice) and thus, they can be innovative without repeating themselves. The same feelings were experienced when the stylish and extraordinary quality novelties (or wonders like the fair’s name) were introduced at Watches and Wonders Fair.
A. Lange & Söhne conducted a series of webinars for Watches and Wonders 2021 on the site titled as “Brand Experience”. The webinars presented with topics such as whether women will be a game changer in watchmaking, watch collecting, inventions in high watchmaking, could be watched on the site during certain hours. An exclusive studio was created in Germany for the presentations. Novelties displayed the quality of Lange.
Lange 1 Perpetual Calendar
The new Lange 1 Perpetual Calendar is a watch that focuses on the redesigned perpetual calendar complication which it bears name. The dial layout on the Lange 1, apart from the patented moon display, an ingenious ring-shaped invention created specifically for this design and introduced for the first time in 2012, the off-center watch with brand-specific large-sized date window is completed with reversible day of the week indicator and leap year indicator. Once the movement is adjusted, it functions properly enough to display properly each month until 2100.
Another remarkable feature is the moon phase with double layer day-night display. The blue colored gold disk that representing the sky completes its rotation around itself every 24 hours. The synodic period of the moon over this background – white or rose gold – lasts 29 days, 12 hours, 44 minutes, and three seconds. In other words, it is such precise and punctual that it will only need a one-day correction after 122.6 years.
The Lange 1 Perpetual Calendar case with in-house automatic movement code L021.3, which is the 67th caliber produced by the brand, has a diameter of 41.9 mm. The one-way gold rotor and power reserve of 50-hour are some of many features of perpetual calendar watch. Timepiece comes with two options: A rose gold case- gray silver dial and a limited number of 150 pieces, a white gold and rose gold dial.
Little Lange 1 Moon Phase
The dark blue dial of the Little Lange 1 Moon Phase model with a white gold case, which takes the phrase “Little” in its name from its 36.8 mm diameter, looks like there are thousands of tiny stars. The month indicator, made of white gold, at the bottom of the date display, which is larger than the symbols of the brand, is adjusted to work flawlessly for 122.6 years.
The bezel is decorated with 56 round-cut diamonds in the second version of this model.
The Little Lange 1 Moon Phase, which has a three-day power reserve thanks to the double barrel, carries all the indispensable values of the classic Lange 1 design such as the off-center watch, large date indicator and power reserve indicator on its dial. The movement is also same: The invention of Lange, made of German silver, which turned to gold over time, consists of the reassuring elements of Lange’s watchmaking mastery, such as the three-quarter plate, the balance bridge with handcrafted engraving, the swan neck fine adjustment mechanism, and the gold thimbles fastened with blued steel screws.
Triple Split
Unrivalled A. Lange & Söhne with the Triple Split model brought high watchmaking to another point in 2018. The Triple Split is the first and only split-second chronograph in the world that can measure additional and comparative times up to 12 hours.
Normal ratchet or split-second chronographs (all of them are different names of similar features) are used to compare the duration of two separate events with the two superimposed second hands. However, in such chronographs, differences of only one minute or less could compared. Yet, A. Lange & Söhne announced for the first time that the Double Split model, which consisted of 465 pieces, increased this time to 30 minutes and allowed the comparison of two different situations extending to half an hour. Thus, a new chronograph era began.
The Triple Split is a chronograph-watch produced with undisputed A.Lange & Söhne quality and high standards andthe triple ratchet (double seconds, minute and hour hand) mechanism can display the difference between events of up to 12 hours (such as cycling, auto races), which is a record time.
Three blued steel hands on the dial continue to measure the total time of the second hand, minute hand and hour hand powered by the same power source when the process of measuring different time intervals is stopped. It is a first in the world. The perfected details is offered with a rose gold case and blue dial in this new version.
