Described as the pinnacle of luxury in the automobile world since its establishment in 1906, Rolls-Royce began its electric transformation with Specter. All models of the brand will be electric in 2030.
Rolls-Royce, which is made to order completely according to personal preferences, using the highest quality materials, and considered as the trademark of wealth and luxury in the automobile world, is preparing to say goodbye to extremely quiet, vibration-free gasoline engines. In other words, the British brand under the BMW umbrella is also starting the electric transformation. It takes the first step of this transformation with the coupe model, which it calls Specter. Specter, which will fill the void of the Wraith model, which was introduced in 2013 and whose production ended, will be delivered to its first owners at the end of 2023. Specter’s UK price is expected to be between the Cullinan and Phantom models, around 350 thousand pounds.
While many brands are starting their electric transformation with SUVs and crossover models, there is no reason why Rolls-Royce started with a coupe. While the average age of Rolls-Royce owners is considered high, the CEO of the brand, Torsten Müller-Ötvös, explained that the average age of its customers is lower than BMW or even MINI. Especially in China and the USA, the first step into the electric world was taken with a coupe model, since a significant part of the customers are young.
In terms of design, the coupe model, with a length of 5,453 mm, a width of 2,080 mm, a height of 1559 mm and a wheelbase of 3,210 mm, is the most aerodynamic Rolls-Royce model ever, in addition to having traditional Rolls-Royce elements. The Spirit of Ecstasy sculpture, which is the product of the wind tunnel test with 830 hours of design modeling, adorning the widest Pantheon grill and engine hood ever used in a Rolls-Royce, is one of the details that played a role in the car’s achieving a friction coefficient of 0.25 Cd. The Specter’s nose design is not only separated from the V12-engined models by its wider grille and illuminated by 22 LEDs. It is also distinguished by a darkened and slightly deeper headlight design under the daytime running lights. The Specter also holds the title of the first production two-door coupe to be fitted with 23-inch wheels in almost 100 years.
