Actually, there are many reasons to characterize Paris as the capital of fashion, but this time around, we will focus on just one. Because Paris’ streets will literally turn to into a fashion podium between February 28 and March 8.
The new hybrid calendar, where we will see the 2022 Autumn / Winter collection, has been announced by The Fédération de la Couture et de la Mode, which is accepted as the management of the French fashion industry.
Consisted of 45 fashion shows, whilst some fashion shows will place as online again, some houses will set to host in-person runway shows. On the other hand, the opening show will hold by Vaquera, and a show organized by Off-White in memory of Virgil Abloh will also meet with fashion lovers in the same evening. Knowing that we will witness parallel worlds, instead just participating to in-person fashion shows, increases our excitement as the digital screenings that pandemic has added to our lives. Furthermore, these digital fashion shows enable us to see even simultaneous fashion shows in different geographies.
Although Louis Vuitton comes to mind when it comes to the closing shows, this time it seems that the closing show will be hosted by Miu Miu, this show will also have livestream components.
Christian Dior, Saint Laurent, Balmain, Courreges, The Row, Rochas, Cecilie Bahnsen, Acne Studios, Chloe, Rick Owens, Isabel Marant, Loewe, Yohji Yamamoto, VTMNTS, Marine Serre, Viviene Westwood, Hermes, Lecourt Mansion, Elie Saab, Rokh, Ann Demeulemeester, Balenciaga, Givenchy, Valentino, Stella McCartney, Sacai, Giambattista Valli, Oliver Theyskens de Louis Vuitton and Miu Miu are among the 45 houses that will also have livestreaming. In other word, the hybrid calendar will eliminate the front row flights and scandals in the 2022 Autumn / Winter fashion shows.
The detailed calendar is available on The Fédération de la Couture et de la Mode.
