Over nearly five hundred years of continuous evolution, the craft has traveled an extraordinary path, from timekeepers attached to pieces of jewelry to today’s highly complicated mechanical movements composed of hundreds of components. Today, Switzerland produces between 15 and 20 million watches annually; last year alone, the country exported 15.6 million timepieces, reaffirming its dominance in the industry. Remarkably, around 90% of high-end watches are still produced in the land where watchmaking was born.

Founded in 1875, Audemars Piguet is one of the oldest names in Swiss watchmaking and one of the few major brands still owned and operated by its founding families. In 1972, Audemars Piguet introduced the Royal Oak, which brought a new vision for stainless steel luxury watches. Founded in 1735, Blancpain is widely regarded as the world’s oldest watch brand. Notably, the manufacture has never produced a quartz movement.
