Watches and Wonders: Rolex is Full of Surprises Again

In order to move the crown to left of the case and reposition the date window at 9 o’clock, some important changes are applied on the movement. The GMT-Master II’s bold bezel with 24-hour graduation on the bottom half of which represents daytime and the top half at night, provides a second time zone that can be easily read by the green and white triangular-tipper 24-hour hand. The Chromalight system is brighter and the new watch glass with anti-reflective coating provides excellent legibility in any condition. The new version of the Oyster Perpetual GMT-Master II features caliber 3285, first announced in 2018. 

Watch of Firsts: Day-Date 40

With the Day-Date 40, which is produced using only precious metals, Rolex breaks a new ground by adding the brand’s signature fluted bezel to the case and bracelet duo made of platinum this time. It is a watch that breaks new ground. When the Rolex Day-date was introduced in 1956, it was the first calendar wristwatch to display the day in a large-curved window at 12 o’clock in addition to the date.

Platinum is an extremely tough metal. Although it seems soft like gold with its attractive white shine, it has a solid structure that makes it difficult to work on, especially with its resistance to polishing. So that, Rolex designed a new manufacturing process to produce a fluted bezel out of 950 carat platinum. The ice blue dial also matches with the noble stance of platinum.

Mysterious and Stunning: Yacht-Master 42

Everyone would expect a titanium case, but surprisingly, a Yacht-Master 42 with a yellow gold cased unveiled. Meanwhile, Rolex has its own state-of-the-art foundry. Announced in 1992, the Yacht-Master is specially designed for sailors and captains. The gold used in the new Yacht-Master 42 is also machined and cast at Rolex’s foundry in Geneva. The matte bezel and glossy black dial match perfectly with yellow gold.

A Neat Watch: Datejust 31

Vivacious, energetic and striking; those may be right words for the Datejust 31. Colorful dials with flowers in the center symbolize the cheerful character of the Datejust 31. The models are available in Azzurro blue, olive green and silver. The Azzurro blue with floral-motif dial, fluted bezel and Oyster-style bracelet, is a steel and white gold blended white Rolesor version.

The olive-green dialed is in 18k yellow gold with floral-motif dial, bezel set with 46 diamonds, and a President bracelet.

Finally, the Everose Rolesor is a blend of Oystersteel and Everose gold with a silver-colored floral dial, bezel decorated with 46 diamonds, and a Jubilee-style bracelet.
