What’s Coming on Netflix in May?

Netflix’s another highly anticipated Oscar-nominated mini-series “Eric” will start airing on May 30th. The series takes us back to the 1980s with Benedict Cumberbatch. Yes, the leading actor of the series is Benedict Cumberbatch, the famous name of the famous “Sherlock Holmes” series with awards such as Emmy, Golden Globe and BAFTA. In addition to Cumberbatch, Gaby Hoffmann, McKinley Belcher and Ivan Howe are among the successful actors accompanying him. Set in 1980s New York, the series tells the drama-thriller story of a father searching for his missing son. Based on a true story, the father, Vincent, is a well-paid New York puppeteer and creator of the popular television show “Good Day Sunshine”.

One day his nine-year-old son goes missing on his way to school and the father’s life is turned upside down. Thanks to his son’s puppet, a blue colored monster that he draws and names Eric, Vincent has something to hold on to. Thinking that if he can get the puppet into the program, his son can be found, the father becomes increasingly paranoid and turns against everyone around him with his behavior. Lucy Forbes is the director of the thriller and drama series about what a father would do for his son and what he goes through after the loss of his son. BAFTA and Emmy award-winner Abi Morgan, who also created the story, will be on Netflix in May.

“Atlas”, Brad Peyton

Good news for science fiction fans! In this fantasy/sci-fi movie where we enter the universe of artificial intelligence, technology has advanced a lot. A robot made of artificial intelligence is built to protect the world, but this robot named Harlan turns the world into a war zone and escapes. Our main character Atlas Shepherd is an agent who does not trust anyone, including artificial intelligence. Having experienced something with the robot in the past, Atlas has an unprecedented account. And now Harlan must be found urgently because he threatens to destroy the world. Atlas volunteers for a mission to find him. When something goes wrong during the mission, he finds himself alone with an artificial intelligence he doesn’t trust at all. Will Atlas take care of himself, or will he realize that he can’t do everything himself and choose to trust the other side? Jennifer Lopez stars in the action and adventure movie. Simu Liu, Sterling K. Brown, Gregory James Cohan are among the cast members. The series will be released on Netflix in May.

“The 8 Show”, Han Jae-rim

Netflix is coming to captivate viewers with another Korean series in the style of “Squid Game” and “The Platform”. The series, which will be broadcast on May 17, is as follows: Eight people in need of money are invited to a reality show called “Money Game”. Living in an eight-story building, these eight people must compete for the grand prize. To survive, the eight people in the building try to play games, level up and reach the next floor. While playing the game, they are trapped in this place where they will of course sometimes cooperate, sometimes compete and sometimes face treachery. The series has a cleverly constructed narrative that exposes capitalism and how troubling it really is. The series is produced by Han Jae-Rim, who has also made acclaimed works such as Rules of Dating, The Show Must Go On, Emergency Declaration. The cast includes successful actors such as Ryu Jun-Yeol, Chun Woo-Hee, Park Jeong-Min, Lee Yul-Eum, Park Hae-Joon, Lee Zoo-Young, Moon Jeong-Hee, and Bae Seong-Woo. Thus, a new Korean drama that will be talked about a lot may be coming to Netflix in May.

“Mother of the Bride”, Mark Waters

Let the wedding preparations begin! “Mother of the Bride” is an American comedy film that begins when Emma, a 20-something woman, unexpectedly comes home with a Thai man. Emma tells her mother that she wants to get married. Moreover, the wedding will take place in Thailand in a month. Lana, who does not stand in the way of her daughter’s happiness, rushes to Thailand with her daughter. But a much bigger surprise awaits Lana there. The father of the groom is none other than Will Jackson, the man who had hurt and upset Lana so much years ago. And this is where the problems begin. Does every love deserve a second chance or will it end in the same disappointment? And who says romantic comedies are for young lovers? Brooke Shields and Benjamin Bratt, movie actresses of many years and accomplished actors, give a very good performance. The cast also includes Miranda Cosgrove, Rachael Harris and Sean Teale. Mark Waters, who directed films such as Vampire Academy, Freaky Friday and My Father’s Penguins, seems to have done comedy justice again. You can watch it on Netflix in May.

“Crazy Breakfast”, Jerry Seinfeld

Well, directors Jerry Seinfeld and Spike Feresten did. In “Crazy Breakfast”, they take us back to Michigan in the 60s to tell the story of how pop-tarts made their way onto grocery store shelves. Two archrivals, Kellogg’s and Post, are literally competing with each other when it comes to breakfast cereals. So much so that, it becomes almost a game over time, and when it comes to an invention, pop-tarts, things get extremely heated. Melissa McCarthy, Jim Gaffigan, Hugh Grant, Amy Schumer, Max Greenfield and many other familiar faces are among the cast of this American comedy that will keep you laughing from start to finish. The release date of this outrageous comedy movie is May 3rd. So, get those pop-tarts ready now.
