Inspired by the Moon, Blancpain x Swatch Scuba Fifty Fathoms Ocean of Storms will be available in Swatch stores by January 11.
Let’s remember: Blancpain and Swatch announced their collaboration in first days of September with five models that dedicated to five oceans, which is Bioceramic Scuba Fifty Fathoms collection. And now, the duo adds a new model to collaboration: Blancpain x Swatch Scuba Fifty Fathoms Oceans of Storms. The series takes its name from the blue waters of the Moon.
The Blancpain x Swatch Scuba Fifty Fathoms Ocean of Storms is inspired by the dark zone or kind of a “sea” on the westerns edge of the Moon, which called as “Oceanus Procellarum” in Latin. It is the largest dark region on the Moon surface, stretching more than 2,500 kilometers from north to south, covering an area of nearly 2 million kilometers.
Ocean of Storms comes with same case size with previous series Bioceramic Scuba Fifty Fathoms. In 42,3 mm black bioceramic case, the timepiece is designed to be water resistant to 91 meters, which is a reference to the “Fifty Fathoms”, as a nautical terms, fifty fathom is equivalent to 91 meters). Ocean of Storms features 60-minute bezel. The dial with sunray-brush finished has indexes and hands like a classic Fifty Fathoms model. Also, there is a date window between 4 and 5 o’clock.
The watch works with Swatch’s automatic movement System51. With a 90-hour power reserve, the movement is visible through the open case back. The crystal glass on the case back is decorated with Okenia Luna, which is nudibranch Ocean of Storms’s.
Blancpain x Swatch Scuba Fifty Fathoms Ocean of Storms will be available in Swatch stores worldwide from January 11.
