Designed by Hublot in collaboration with Berluti, the Big Bang Unico Aluminio comes with leather and titanium.
As you might remember, Hublot had introduced Classic Fusion Berluti in collaboration with Berluti at the 2016 Baseworld Fair. With this collaboration, Hublot pushed the boundaries of the use of leather on a timepiece and integrated the leather to this watch’s dial. Although the use of leather in a watch brings several technical difficulties (low waterproof rate, reflection of light on the dial, etc.), the consequent brown dial was highly appreciated by haute horology world. Later on, collaborations between these two brands have continued. And a new model has been introduced that designed in partnership between Hublot and Berluti in the previous days: Hublot Big Bang Unico Berluti Aluminio. Although the name of the model brings to mind aluminum, this new Hublot takes its name from Berluti leather.
The 44 mm watch uses Berluti Venezia leather on its polished titanium dial and bezel. This polished bezel, which is placed by resin with a piece of leather before being screwed into the case, is a new design of Hublot. The timepiece reflects a classic Hublot case with its complicated structure of titanium case, angular edges, brushed and matte finish. Although the leather can never be truly waterproof, the Hublot Big Bang Unico Berluti Aluminio is water resistant up to 100 meters.
The semi-skeleton dial is designed with thick and durable Berluti leather. Also, the working of mechanism can be seen from the skeleton structure of the leather dial. The watch features the in-house caliber HUB1280 automatic chronograph, which has 72-hours of power reserve.
And there is of course the leather is used in last touches of the timepiece. Aluminio Venezia leather is used on the strap, and version with a Scritto motif on the strap is only available in Japan. The strap has also a titanium buckle. The 100-piece limited edition comes with a travel watch and shoehorn keyring.
