Bulgari introduced Octo Finissimo Sketch with “sketch dial” concept.
Record-breaking Octo Finissimo or Serpenti Tubogas, these collections are among the first collections that come to mind when we think about Fabrizio Buonamassa Stiglina, the creative director of Bulgar. Stigliani’s passion for watches began during his early childhood years with his grandfather’s watches. Building a career in watchmaking world, he is one of the most successful designers of horology. As watch enthusiasts we are familiar with his sketches as much as timepieces that signed by him. And nowadays, Bulgari introduced a new Octo Finissimo series that tribute his creative director.
Celebrating his 140th anniversary this year, Bulgari announced Octo Finissimo Sketch which has three series. Indeed, we have already seen Stigliani’s sketches on the dials of the Octo Finissimo Automatic and Chronograph GMT Automatic series that produced for the 10th anniversary in 2022. This time new series reveal sketches of a mechanism.
The sketch on the dials depicts a detailed view of the movement, including the micro-rotor, escapement, bridges and Côtes de Genève. There are three versions in the series: an automatic version in rose gold or steel case and a chronograph with GMT function. The automatic models are designed in a 40 mm diameter rose gold or steel case, while the chronograph with GMT function comes in a 43 mm diameter steel case. All models are etched “EDIZIONE LIMITATE” on the sapphire case back.
The Octo Finissimo Automatic Sketch series is limited to 280 pieces in steel and 70 pieces in 18k pink gold. The sketch on the dials depicts details of the movement such as the micro-rotor, escapement and bridge. Both versions are 40 mm in diameter. The open case back reveals in-house automatic caliber BVL 138.
On the other hand, the Octo Finissimo Chronograph GMT Sketch comes in a 43 mm diameter steel case. Although designed with a movement sketch, the dial of this model differs from the other series; the sketch, which displays the front of the movement, features a sub-dial at 3, 6 and 9 o’clock. The 30-minute chronograph is at 6 o’clock and the second time zone at 3 o’clock. As with the other models, we also see Stigliani’s notes on the sketch.
