Although Akaretler-Sıraevler was thought and planned as Dolmabahçe Palace lodging, it is a building that smells of art from its architecture to its experiences and has hosted many people from the field of art and culture in the past and present. Akaretler-Sıraevler, the work of architect Sarkis Balyan, was also home to the Italian painter Fausto Zonaro, known as the palace painter during the reign of Abdülhamid II. In fact, it is an understatement to call it a home, because it was both the artist’s home and studio, and even the first art gallery of the period. Zonaro’s vision of an ‘art gallery’ is obviously reflected in the present day. Art suits Sıraevler so well that it has become an indispensable place for art galleries today.
Today, these spaces with a thousand and one stories are home to Artweeks Akaretler, which held its first edition in 2018 and will hold its seventh edition this year.
Preparing to present its seventh edition, Artweeks Akaretler invites us to meet art again on November 2. Running until November 13, the event will present a selection of leading galleries from Turkey and around the world. Artweeks Akaretler, which will host its visitors free of charge, will take place in buildings numbered 15-17-19-37&39-55-57. During the event, you can take advantage of special discounts for visitors by showing your QR code at the contracted food and beverage venues in the vicinity and you can also relieve your sweet tiredness caused by the event.
