Pluribus

“Pluribus,” the new project from Vince Gilligan — the creator of iconic series like Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul — has been widely discussed since the day it premiered. The series, which drops a new episode every week on Apple TV, follows this storyline: The world is shaken by a virus outbreak triggered by a mysterious signal from an unknown source. This virus transforms people into a collective consciousness — cooperative, peaceful, perpetually happy and harmonious. However, not everyone undergoes this transformation. One of the exceptions is Carol Sturka, a grumpy novelist who serves as the show’s protagonist.

There are 13 others like her. In fact, one of them is an elderly man living in Istanbul! We haven’t seen any Istanbul scenes yet, but the Turkish songs featured in the show have already made quite an impression. At the end of the first episode, Murat Evgin’s Turkish cover of John Lennon’s “Nobody Told Me,” titled “Bugünleri de mi Görecektik?”, plays. At the end of episode six, we hear Kit Sebastian’s cover of The Doors’ “People Are Strange.” If you’re into sci-fi, this is a series you shouldn’t miss.

The Beast in Me

Another gripping release, this time on Netflix, is “The Beast in Me,” starring Claire Danes and Matthew Rhys. Our beloved Claire Danes — whom we know from Homeland — plays Aggie Wiggs, a writer crafted as a nod to Agatha Christie. Aggie is a grieving author who has separated from her husband following the death of their son. Withdrawn, irritable, anxious, and unable to make progress on her new book, she is far from her old creative self.

One day, a new neighbor moves into her gated community: Nile Jarvis, a real estate agent with a shadowy past. Nile was accused of killing his first wife but somehow managed to escape all charges. So who is he really? A billionaire wrongfully accused — or someone who has used money and status to sidestep justice for crimes he did commit? As Aggie grows closer to this unsettling neighbor, she decides to write her new book about him. But this choice pulls her into a series of events she never could have predicted.

The Paper

September has only just begun, but if you want to step into fall with something witty and lighthearted, The Paper is the perfect pick. Created by Greg Daniels and Michael Koman, the series is a spin-off of the legendary The Office. This time, the spotlight is on Dunder Mifflin—the paper and office supply company from the original—after it goes bankrupt and is taken over by a new corporation called Enervate.

At the center of it all is Ned Sampson, played by Irish actor Domhnall Gleeson (About Time), who brings his own quirky energy to the role. With its mockumentary style and subtle humor, the series carries the unmistakable DNA of The Office, while offering fresh laughs of its own.

Only Murders in the Building: Season 5

Few shows capture the mood of fall quite like Only Murders in the Building—from its warm-toned art direction to its suspenseful yet cozy storytelling. The trio we can’t get enough of—Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez—return for another season of mysteries inside the Arconia, that infamous New York apartment building where crime tape seems to appear on every corner.

After the shocking murder of building superintendent Lester at the end of last season, Charles, Oliver, and Mabel are once again drawn into an investigation. Season 5 also comes with a star-studded guest cast, including Bobby Cannavale, Keegan-Michael Key, Renée Zellweger, Christoph Waltz, Beanie Feldstein, Logan Lerman, and Dianne Wiest. And yes—Meryl Streep is back as Loretta, Oliver’s wonderfully eccentric wife. We’re also eager to see Selena Gomez’s refreshed style and energy in this new chapter.

Task

If gritty crime dramas are more your speed, HBO Max’s Task will likely be your fall obsession. Created by Brad Ingelsby, the mind behind Mare of Easttown, the series stars Mark Ruffalo as Tom Brandis, an FBI agent leading a task force investigating stolen cash from Philadelphia drug houses belonging to a powerful cartel. Professionally, Brandis is sharp and relentless, but his personal life is unraveling—especially when it comes to his kids.

He’s joined by Oscar and Golden Globe winner Emily Jones as his determined ally, with strong support from Tom Pelphrey (Ozark, Love & Death) and Alison Oliver (Conversations with Friends, Saltburn). With its mix of crime, suspense, and flawed humanity, Task is already drawing comparisons to TV’s most iconic FBI agents, from Fox Mulder (The X-Files) to Dale Cooper (Twin Peaks). Will Tom Brandis earn a place on that list? This fall, we’ll find out.

The Girlfriend

Robin Wright fans, gather around! The acclaimed actress, who captivated audiences with her powerhouse performance in House of Cards, now returns to the screen in the much-anticipated The Girlfriend. This time, Wright steps into the role of Laura, a mother whose curiosity, suspicion, and paranoia steadily consume her. Laura has never believed anyone is truly worthy of her son Daniel, but when he introduces her to Cherry—the woman he hopes to build a serious relationship with—her protective instincts go into overdrive.

No matter how hard she tries, Laura simply cannot warm to Cherry. Convinced she is hiding something, Laura begins to act on her fears. The deeper her suspicions grow, the more she transforms into an overly protective and possessive mother. But is Cherry really concealing a darker side, or is Laura’s imagination spiraling out of control? Adapted from Michelle Francis’s 2017 novel, The Girlfriend also features several episodes directed by Wright herself. With its suspenseful premise and star power, it’s a series worth adding to your watchlist.

The Morning Show: Season 4

The drama behind the morning desk is heating up even further in Season 4 of The Morning Show. This time, the cast welcomes celebrated newcomers Marion Cotillard and Jeremy Irons, promising even more intrigue. Jennifer Aniston’s Alex Levy now sits among the channel’s executives, while Reese Witherspoon’s Bradley finds herself in hot water after confessing to betraying her brother. Though she’s not behind bars, her life has taken a dramatic turn. Meanwhile, former UBA CEO Cory is scrambling to reinvent himself as a Hollywood producer after his firing. Black Rabbit

One of the most exciting projects of the season is Black Rabbit, a gripping mini-series that brings together Jude Law and Jason Bateman. The story unfolds in a luxury club of the same name, where two brothers—Jake and Vince—find themselves in deep trouble. One is conservative, the other incompetent, and both are grappling with financial ruin when they cross paths with the mafia. As expected, their involvement drags them into a series of dangerous and unpredictable events.

Bateman, who successfully balanced acting and directing in Ozark, directs the first two episodes here, once again collaborating with his Ozark co-star Laura Lannett. The actor has even gone on record to say Black Rabbit might be the best work of his career so far. Is that just hype? We’ll let the series speak for itself. Either way, anticipation is sky-high.

The Lowdown

We’ve missed Ethan Hawke on our screens, and now he’s back alongside the ever-compelling Kyle MacLachlan. In The Lowdown, Hawke plays Lee Raybon, a self-described “real historian,” which explains the series’ title: “lowdown” meaning “the real deal.” But Raybon’s relentless pursuit of the truth doesn’t come without a cost—his investigations consistently land him in hot water.

After opening a bookstore in Tulsa, he begins probing into corruption and complaints within the community, only to uncover ties leading back to the powerful Washberg family. At the top of this tangled web is a Washberg brother, played by MacLachlan, who is also running for governor. The clash between Hawke and MacLachlan promises sharp, compelling drama. For fans of political intrigue and character-driven storytelling, this one is not to be missed.

House of Guinness

From Steven Knight, the creator of Peaky Blinders, comes House of Guinness, a sweeping period drama set in 1860s Dublin. This new series dives into the origins of the world-famous Guinness brand, capturing the turbulent years following the death of Sir Benjamin Guinness, the man who propelled the brewery to global prominence. His sons, Arthur and Edward, inherit both the family business and its accompanying challenges, sparking a battle of power, legacy, and excess.

Netflix describes the brothers as “powerful and pleasure-seeking,” while Knight himself insists “wild” is the most fitting term for his characters. With its heady mix of family drama, historical intrigue, and lavish production design, House of Guinness promises to be one of Netflix’s standout fall offerings.

Gen V: Season 2

While fans eagerly await the next season of The Boys, its spin-off Gen V is back with a second season to keep the adrenaline pumping. This season introduces Hamish Linklater, best known as a voice actor, in the role of the new Dean. Prime Video will drop the first three episodes on September 17, with the remaining five released weekly. With its mix of dark humor, brutal action, and sharp social commentary, Gen V remains a must-watch for anyone craving more from The Boys universe.
