What’s going on?

Each watch includes an expedition with Nilson, by helicopter, to the place on Mount Everest where the rock was found and price will be donated to a enviromental charity. In 2019, the Swiss-based Panerai collaborated with explorer Mike Horn and presented watch owners an Arctic exploration with Mike Horn. The watch brands led by Panerai and Blancpain take care to manufacture in sustainable buildings, produce watches from ocean waste, and donate to environmental associations. Ulysse-Nardin’s Diver Net Concept watch produced from recyclable materials recovered from the sea, is latest example of this.

On the other hand, there are criticisms that the watch industry does not attach enough importance to sustainability. In the article by Olivier Mülle at World Tempus, it is stated that only the Swatch Group’s fossil fuel production has decreased by 6.7 percent in the last two decades, but the production of special waste excluding batteries has increased by 27.6 percent.
