Jacob & Co. has teamed up with graffiti artist Alec Monopoly for a new limited-edition line. The Jacob & Co. Astronomia Alec Monopoly is a collector’s piece with its colorful and vibrant design.
As is known, watch editors have a great passion for all kinds of timepieces. We love to write some of them in terms of mechanical features, whilst some of these timepieces affect us with their designs. For instance, Jacob & Co.’s new Astronomia Alec Monopoly is a kind of watch that we love to write about its colorful and joyful design.
We have already known that Jacob & Co., New York-based watch manufacturer, produces such timepieces that carry different universes to our wrist. Now, the brand has teamed up with graffiti artist Alec Monopoly for a new limited-edition model. (Monopoly previously had a partnership with Tag Heuer for Tag Heuer Formula 1 Alec Monopoly Special Edition.) With this new model, the artist goes one step further and creates a new universe on the dial.
Presented as miniature sculptures, these characters are placed in the iconic Astronomia four-arm vertical movements and its four exclusive complications. These miniature characters contain pop figures like “The Monopoly Man” and “Scrooge McDuck”, which are hand painted by Aled Monopoly.
Monopoly says that he loves the juxtaposition of my youthful cartoon characters, brought to life with watch complications. Besides these miniature sculptures, the dial includes a hand-lacquered globe of Earth and spherical diamond with 288 facets. The dial made of black aventurine, which is like a starry night. On the other hand, the dial features Roman numerals and the hands are in green color in line with the dollar bills that are frequently used in the characters. The color palette of the watch is pink and bright red tones.
The in-house caliber JCAM10 offers a power reserve of 60 hours. The timepiece comes with a black alligator strap and has 18c rose gold folding clasp.
The Astronomia Alec Monopoly can be the most entertaining piece of your collection with its design inspired by a comic book character and board game. As Edip Cansever’s famous verse, “This childhood is something like the sky, it is not going anywhere”, indeed, the childhood is not gngo anywhere and can appear on the dial of a watch like the Astronomia Alec Monopoly.
