Bvlgari introduced its novelties inspired by notes at the 2024 Geneva Watch Days.
Bvlgari presented the new Octo Roma Grande Sonnerie Tourbillon and Octo Roma Carillon Tourbillon at the Geneva Watch Days in collaboration with the brand ambassador, musician Lorenzo Viotti. The Grande Sonnerie, the most complicated timepiece ever produced by the brand, keeps time with the sound of bells, with a melody composed by conductor Lorenzo Viotti. The watch houses caliber BVV 800.
Produced in a pink gold case, the Octo Roma Carillon Tourbillon combines a three-hammer minute repeater and a tourbillon. Limited to 30 pieces, the case back reveals the caliber BVL428, the movement that gives life to the melodies.
Lorenzo Viotti
Born in Laussane Lorenzo Viotti is the director of the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra, the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra and the Dutch National Opera. Viotti explains the theme used in watches, called “tritone”, as follows: “The purpose of this combination of notes is dissonance, the tension created by the tritone. It contrasts strongly with the modern preference for harmonious intervals of harmony. In medieval symbolism, certain chords were associated with spiritual concepts. The tritone was considered offensive and, because of its asymmetry, contrary to religious rules reflecting divine harmony. This association is why it is called the Devil’s Interval.”
