With “Advanced Research” Fortissimo Ref. 5750P, Patek Philippe introduces an important innovation in minute repeater watches, which is one of its areas of expertise.

Patek Philippe made a big new announcement, whilst the smoke of the steel case Nautilus (Ref. 5711/1A-018) Tiffany Blue® (patented Tiffany blue)’s burning is still. Patek Philippe R&D engineers have opened a new chapter in minute repeater watches by inventing a mechanical sound system that won four patents that delivers perfect acoustic quality.

The new fortissimo (powerful) “ff” module consists of a flexibly suspended sound lever and an oscillating wafer made of clear sapphire crystal glass. The new system gives clearly amplified sounds with acoustic quality compared to conventional minute repeaters and regardless of the case material.

In a classic minute repeater watch, sound is produced when steel hammers strike the chimes, and the case material has a significant impact on sound quality. On the one hand, Patek Philippe advanced research department makes hammers from platinum as a patented solution that improves the quality of the stroke on 5750P. Besides, the sound is directed to a circular wafer of transparent sapphire crystal suspended by a steel arm that can only vibrate via one sound module in this minute repeater. The sound from the patented spiral chimes is amplified by a sapphire wafer that works like a tuning fork with silicon and steel connections and is transmitted through four openings at 12, 3, 6 and 9 o’clock. In this way, the case material does not affect the quality of sound and the duration of its propagation.

With five-part elements, the design of dial inspired by the spoked wheels of classic automobiles. A small marker serves as a hand in the rotating seconds display, which consists of a rotating disk (the same motif in the dial) at 6 o’clock.

Consisting of 342 components, the watch in 40 mm features a thin micro-rotor made of platinum. Its case is also made of platinum. The hands and hour markers are in white gold. A limited edition of only 15 pieces, the 5750P is humidity and dust-protected, but not water resistant.
