Cartier’s iconic Tank à Guichet collection makes a comeback at Watches and Wonders 2025.
As with many of Cartier’s legendary timepieces, the story of the Tank à Guichet dates back to the 1920s—a time when trains and automobiles were becoming increasingly common, and life was beginning to move at a faster pace. Wristwatches, just starting to claim their place in daily life, naturally adapted to this new rhythm. It was during this era that Cartier introduced the Tank à Guichet: a timepiece designed for quicker, easier time reading. With no hour or minute hands on the dial, this watch displays the time through two separate apertures—one for the hours, and one for the minutes. Throughout the 1930s, Cartier released various versions of the Tank à Guichet.
In 1997, to celebrate Cartier’s 150th anniversary, the brand unveiled a platinum version of the Tank à Guichet, limited to 150 pieces. The collection returned once again in 2005, this time in rose gold and limited to 100 pieces.
Now, twenty years later, Cartier breathes new life into the collection with its latest Tank à Guichet models revealed at Watches and Wonders 2025.

The new series arrives with two distinct interpretations. The first version, inspired by a 1928 model, features an aperture at 12 o’clock to display the hour and another at 6 o’clock for the minutes. These timepieces are offered in yellow gold, pink gold, and platinum cases.
The second version, limited to 200 pieces, draws inspiration from Tank à Guichet models produced in the 1930s. Reflecting the avant-garde design language of the era, this interpretation displays the minutes through a window positioned at the lower right of the dial, while the hours appear in the upper left. This edition is exclusively presented in a platinum case.

For both models, the crown is positioned at the top of the case, near the 12 o’clock mark.
Powering the watches is the hand-wound calibre 9755, delivering mechanical elegance in keeping with the spirit of the original design.
