Stretching from the slopes of Table Mountain to the Atlantic coast, Cape Town is one of South Africa’s most distinctive cities, where dramatic natural landscapes meet a compelling gastronomic, artistic and design scene. The V&A Waterfront and Bo-Kaap are among the city’s best-known landmarks, while Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden, the beaches of Camps Bay and the historic vineyards of Constantia extend the Cape Town experience far beyond the city centre.
The V&A Waterfront, built around the city’s former harbour district, is one of the clearest expressions of Cape Town’s contemporary character. Housed in a converted grain silo, Zeitz MOCAA, together with the galleries, design stores and restaurants of the Silo District, has helped establish the area as an important centre for contemporary African art. Around Bree Street and Kloof Street, independent restaurants, boutiques and creative spaces offer a more neighbourhood-focused perspective on the city’s fashion, gastronomy and cultural scene.
Cape Town’s approach to luxury travel extends well beyond its hotels, shaped by experiences ranging from restaurants along the Atlantic coast to the vineyards of Constantia and the nearby wine regions of Stellenbosch and Franschhoek, as well as contemporary galleries and local design studios. In 2026, Investec Cape Town Art Fair brought together 126 galleries and 490 artists, attracting 34,000 visitors and further strengthening the city’s growing position on the international art circuit. Cape Town is one of the rare major cities where nature, art, gastronomy and wine culture can all become part of the same journey.
