Artist and designer Yinka Ilori has transformed a London park in Canary Wharf, one of the UK’s two largest financial centers, into a colorful public basketball court with his signature patterns. “Be the best you can be” is the motto for the site, which will remain open until October 2021 as part of a major public art program run by the Canary Wharf Estate, featuring over 75 permanent works by 50 world-renowned artists and craftsman.
The people of England, who have experienced a long period of lockdown due to the pandemic, are preparing to enjoy the space created by the artist, who instills hope and optimism with this slogan. The court will host several tournaments, lectures and events throughout the summer. “I feel like my project is part of the new Canary Wharf and challenges people’s perception of that area once,” says Ilori and he invites everyone to take part in this colorful world.
If you have holiday plans for coming days, London’s art-oriented normalization period could be an option for you.
